A mentor is a person who gives a protégé advice, answers questions, and strategizes career moves and professional development.

A sponsor is someone who promotes a sponsored to other people to help advance the sponsored’s career.

Both mentors and sponsors can help you to make connections at work, influence and aid your career, and expand your network and knowledge. However, sponsors are internal LEADERS at a higher level who can support and promote you.
