“You must be ready and willing to take opportunities as the come; you must be willing to make them too.” – Kobi Yamada
There is no better time in the history of mankind to take advantage of opportunities and live your dreams than now. No longer the mindset of waiting for opportunity to come knocking …. but for a leader, the new mindset is make opportunity through anticipating change.
Anticipate Change
How do you anticipate change? Examine your past actions and notice how they affect your today. Now, think about your future. If you do not like what your future is showing, make a change for your future. Also, while making a change, be aware of changes in society including technology, politics, law, and corporate business. Learn how these areas will impact your present and future that you can anticipate change.
Take Action
Next, take action. Think about what you can do differently and do it now. Keep an open mind to new ideas and a new direction. Along with a new direction, write down your goals and the benefits of change to meet those goals. In contrast, do not make the same mistakes of the past or procrastinate.
Overcome Fear
Subsequently, overcome the fear of change. Fear can paralyze you change can be stressful and overwhelming, but learn to conquer fear through faith. Address your fears: fear of failure or success; fear of other’s opinions; or, fear of the unknown. Are these fears real or imagined? Regardless, do not ignore fear; but acknowledge it and choose to move forward. Moving beyond your fears bring confidence, creativity, and effectiveness. More so, moving beyond fear will provide a testament to those who you lead that they can be encouraged to seek opportunities of positive change.
Dream Big
Lastly, dream big. There is no dream too big; so, write down your dream, put it on a vision board, and review it daily. Afterwards, write a strategic plan to obtain it. Most importantly, implement a strategic plan to reach your dream. Dreams do not manifest themselves. As a leader, you must work to see the realization of your dreams.
Today, I encourage you to purposely anticipate change by taking action. Seek strategic and innovative approaches to address your challenges. Move towards your dreams and experience them … what do you see … hear … smell … taste … touch … feel? Finally, know that your dreams are obtainable through the art of change and making opportunities.
